The Beloit
City Council consists of eight City Council members who are elected by ward
in nonpartisan elections for overlapping terms. There are two Council members
elected from each of the City's four wards. The Mayor is elected separately
in a citywide election every four years. The City Council is the legislative
body of the City Government. It determines all matters of City policy, approves
all city ordinances and resolutions, and adopts the annual budget.
